My first impressions (from a USA reader):
- The flashing in the list needs to go. Its distracting. You want kids to
focus on the thoughts they have -- what the items mean to them. Not on
trying to read flashing words.
- I also do not like the focus on the word Be's. I think the focus needs
to be values and concepts, such as honesty, etc. The design drew my eyes
to the Be's. Not the values. I don't think that is what you want. Maybe
you can do the same thing with a different font for the Be's, and place
the emphasis on the value word instead. I'd have to think about it.
- In any event, ask your audience -- the kids what they see first when the
look. Usually kids are attracted to color and things that are fun to
read. Ask them for examples of websites that are "fun," for ideas.
I think the basic idea is there -- the wisdom of the ages found in the
quotes, and using them -- applying them as a guide to their life now and
what it should be as they mature -- but I'm not sure the kids who need to
think most are going to have the patience to work through the screens.
Maybe more color in the bars for power, society, etc., is needed?
Myself, for things that take considerable thought (or should) before
answering, I would prefer to be able to see the whole concept before
answering. -- But that is just me, a writer, trainer/teacher, school board
member. |

Thanks for your reaction. I will certainly try to take what you said into
account. My basic aim was to provide material for teachers to work with.
They should be able to guide their students to one/some/all of the pages of
the site.
As far as my (Dutch) students are concerned: they are in a college-prep
education system and are learning English as their second language. Too much
color and fun stuff would divert their attention too much in my opinion.
Thanks again for your reaction.
