A message from the Prime Minister of John Winston Howard, in regards
to education in Public Schools
My fellow Australians,
Many of you have been asking me how I think education should be
handled in our Public Schools, since I have made my own views clear
that the Politically Correct attitude of many teachers is wrong, since
they only encourage tolerance and understanding of people from other
cultures.
I would just like to explain to you, my subjects, a few changes that I
would like to introduce to improve the quality of education in Public
Schools.
1. GETTING BACK TO THE IMPORTANT FUNDAMENTALS OF EDUCATION
Back when I was at school we had a thing called Empire Day. I see
that this is now no longer observed. It is my belief that failing to
recognise and honor the great British Empire in the appropriate way
has led to a severe moral and social decline in this country. The
effects of this decline can clearly be seen in such things as the
increasing divorce rate, the legalisation of homosexuality in many
Australian states, the high youth suicide rate, the increasing numbers
of people voting for Bolshy "Green" parties and the death of Cricket
legend Sir Donald Bradman.
Since I don't want to introduce a new Public Holiday we will get rid
of the old, outmoded Australia Day and celebrate Empire Day then.
That should do the kids a lot of good and stop them from taking drugs.
God Save the Queen.
2. GET THE CLASSICS OF LITERATURE BACK INTO THE SCHOOLS
Political Correctness had done great damage to the lists of books that
children can read, especially at an Infants and Primary level. One
great piece of literature I wish to draw special attention to is
Noddy. This book was banned due to concerns about Noddy and Big Ears
sleeping in the same bed and the fact that there were Golliwogs in
Toytown. Now when I was growing up there were no Golliwogs where I
lived but I have it on good authority that they really did exist. I
think that it is not fair to deny the Golliwogs their place in
literature and I cannot accept censorship such as this. This brings
me neatly to my next point.
3. CALLING A SPADE A SPADE
Thanks to the Politically Correct attitudes of many of these hippies
that we have teaching children today many important old words are
being forgotten by our children. Words such as wog and even terms
like New Australians are no longer in common usage and I think that
they still have a place in our society.
4. PLEDGING ALLEGIANCE
I understand that in the United States of America, they have
ceremonies in schools at the start of the day where the students have
to pledge allegiance to the American flag, encouraging patriotism. I
believe that with a few adaptations this idea will work quite well in
Australia so I am introducing new legislation which will mean that by
2005, Australian schoolchildren will be pledging allegiance to the
American Flag every day.
5. NATIVITY PLAYS
I believe that all children, regardless of religion or race, will
benefit from learning about Jesus and the Christian God at Christmas.
I think that the kids have been missing out and will learn how to love
other people, just like all Christians do. Attendance of these
nativity plays in schools will be compulsory. We will also introduce
Easter plays, when Jewish schoolchildren can play the parts of those
who execute Jesus Christ our lord. The Italian kids can help out by
dressing up as Roman soldiers, etc….
6. THE KIDS KNOW WHO EDMUND BARTON IS, BUT NOT WHO THE CURRENT PRIME
MINISTER IS.
Kids might know who the first Prime Minister of Australia was, but
they need to know more about who the current Prime Minister is. They
need to be taught about my political past. The dynamic assistance
that I provided to the Fraser government, my strong and successful
leadership of the party in opposition in the 1980's and the early
1990's, (except for of course, the times when the party was led
instead by Andrew Peacock, John Hewson and Alexander Downer), and our
great victory against that terrible communist, Paul Keating in 1996.
They also need to know about my unwavering support for the GST.
CONCLUSION
As you can see, my fellow Australians, my plans for the education of
our children will help them to become better people and by doing away
with politically correct attitudes, I hope to restore Australia to
being the great nation it once was, when I was a boy.
Thank you for your time.
Rt Hon John Howard.
Prime Minister of Australia.
