That's an interesting question right now. We're publishers and authors, and
we're having books manufactured in China and India. One time, I (and I guess
we in the "american" sense) thought that people in countries like China or
India were underpayed and enslaved and that was part of the reason we were
careful about doing business there.

Now we know that in developing countries like China or India or many others,
that people in so-called "developed" countries are totally comfortable doing
business there because the people doing the actual work are benefiting
directly. That might sound stupid but it's definitely the way we feel, and
we print af fair amount of textbooks. Not all our manufacturing is going
global, but some sure is. We would be insane not to compete with other
American companies who are doing their manufacturing or service or technical
work overseas. And the people we're working with are just wonderful; there's
no sense of nationalism on either side. We're all in business and looking
out for each other's well being.

As far as where to get a job, that depends on where you want to live. I do
know that although the annual pay rate for big American companies isn't the
same in Beijing or Delhi as it is in LA or NY, it's sure higher than driving
a car in that same city might be. And a lot of companies (I know technical
firms and printing manufacturing only, so I'm limited in my 'advice' if you
could call it that Smile )

First decide where you want to live -- tight, conjested, and incredibly
exciting and passionate urban centers, or gentler, softer, and (I think, at
least) healthier near-urban but somewhat rural communities. You're obviously
online, so you don't necessarily need to be in the city five days a week.

Next, decide what you want to do. Find something you love to do, and then
study, study, study, and practice, practice, practice, until you're really
good at and knowlegeable of that field.

Then teach others to do it and have them pay you for it, do it for them and
have them pay you, or write about it.

It works Smile

One other thing. The unemployment rate -- the percentage of people who; for
one reason or another cannot or will not work -- is something like 4%.
There's lots of jobs here. And pay is wonderful in global measures. Living
rate isn't cheap, but you can find clean accommodations, healthy food, and
free access to libraries, the internet, the arts, community information and
everything from yoga to meditation to atheism-international free of charge.

America is pretty cool -- and american's really aren't bad people at all.
