With reference to the article "Is Spelling Overrated?" ("The Age"; Nov 3), I
concede that some latitude might be possible with spelling; for example, who
cares if the suffix "-able" is not always correct? - but too much should not
be made of this.
As to anagramming words, retaining only first and last letters in place;
keep this as a novelty pastime rather than introduce it as the norm.
