With reference to the article "Is Spelling Overrated?" ("The Age"; Nov 3), I
concede that some latitude might be possible with spelling; for example, who
cares if the suffix "-able" is not always correct? - but too much should not
be made of this.

As to anagramming words, retaining only first and last letters in place;
keep this as a novelty pastime rather than introduce it as the norm.

Perhaps you might like to have fun with the following? -

PIGACEGOADL ORCABITSNUTSS CLOTTANSNY RITENNVINEG SEVILFERNSG TRACEIHOTEL
PRINTSOUG, PETSLENRY EZHIPSAME HOXREEDTOY PLEASBITSRIMIY SOMESALTINLUUY

Looks like it is. There's a movie coming soon (Nov.13th) named
"Spellbound", with "Little kids. Big words", about the championship Spelling
Bee.
What are these kids? Freaks?
