Inconvenient truths in schools

You gotta laugh. Now we have a judge in the UK laying down the law about
possible minor defects in Al Gore's film, and whether it is suitable to be
shown to secondary school children - yet, daily, kids are indoctrinated in
religious schools with all kinds of unproveable nonsense..
If Gore's film has defects, then let any contrary view be also aired in
schools, and let the kids decide.

A national disgrace for the stupid country, primary school students
spend more time learning about a fictional God than they do on science,
a mere 3% of their time in primary education is devoted to science.

Some academics Like Gary Bouma want to introduce religion into every
area of the curriculum.

"The curriculum in all subject areas should be rewritten to incorporate
an appreciation of the role of religions in Australian life."

One Islamic King Abdullah is trying to catch up in science by excluding
religion from his new university.

# We humans tend to think of ourselves as the peak of evolutionary
achievement, or darling of the gods - but never as a temporary aberration,

Our marvellous Brain, which distinguishes us from lesser beings, is
probably an over-specialisation, and as likely to speed our extinction, as

Why do I call Homo Sapiens "the Mad Ape"? Because other apes -
chimpanzee, orang-utan, gorilla, gibbon - only believe what they can see,
touch, or hear; whereas humans believe in things for which no current
empirical evidence exists. Not only that, but we are dogmatic about it, and
will wage wars accordingly.
Can any monotheistic religion prove its "God" exists? No. Except for
black ink marks on bound paper, and the say-so of a vested-interest clergy.
But let's not be too extreme in this - God is a relic of Ancestor
Worship, He is (in a patriarchal society) the Old Man of the Tribe, of
fearful memory and nightmares, come back to haunt us, unless his "spirit" is
supplicated.
While God may not exist, we are in denial about Global Warming, a very
real threat, and we folk will need every scrap of Science and our Adaptive
Wits to survive.
The Human Plague sweeps across Planet Earth, and our massive Technology
lets us do as we like to Nature - while our conceit thinks we can get away
with it.
The problem is not so much Global Warming, it is us !
