I suppose he's mentally ill as well? And you forgot to call him a
LOSER.
What about yourself? What are you? A drone? An autopilot? A sleeper bot
that does and thinks whatever the television tells it to? Watched much
TV lately? Read alot of mainstream
corporate brainwashing pulp fiction (a.k.a. THE NEW REALITY) lately?
Do you get a nice fuzzy sensation when you say "corporate". Are your
ideas yours? How many of your ideas were implanted by the television?
Can you tell the difference between television land of bullshit and
reality dirty streets noisy cars, smokey dusty air, increased cancer
rates., increased neurological disorders, descreased population IQs,
increase in gun violence, increased poverty, disappearance of the
middle-class, decreased education standards?
Are you happy with your socio-economic status inferred by your clothes
and vehicle these days or do you feel as though your girlfriend could
be a little better looking? |

Can you losers from aus.tv stop cross posting to aus.politcs. It makes
me sick to think that people sit around talking about television let
alone watch it. Get a life in the REAL WORLD. |

The card will be phased in between 2008 and 2010 and, while it will
not be compulsory, it will be essential for receiving Government
payments, meaning they will be essential for some (ie: FAMILIES).
Contact your local MP, the PM, everybody that you can to stop this
CON.
RESISTANCE IS *NOT* FUTILE.

I see the card as a way for the authorities to keep track of people. Every
time it is used they will know where we are and what we are doing. It's like
wearing an electronic bracelet that prisoners on early release have to wear.
Also, how will they get everyone's photo for the cards? Who will pay for that?
And what about those people who don't want to show their faces, such as Muslims
(women in particular), Arab terrorists wrapped in towels, Irish terrorists
wearing ski masks etc. I think the whole exercise is designed to keep honest
people honest. It will not achieve that for which we are led to believe it is
designed, our security and safety. Big Brother (1984) has come. |

ID CARD IS COMPULSORY for Gov Benefits, which includes Family
Benefits, Childcare Rebates, Students Benefits, etc. Quite Logical...
I fail to see any rational thought behind your post...

According to the Fed Minister doing it (ie Horse's mouth) - name
forgotten - on ABC this evening, the cards will have a Photograph on
them - human readable image, as well as embedded (qv) biometrics on the
64Mb (!!) chip.
The photo will NOT be able to be submitted (like with a passport) but
you have to do it in person (is what he said) - which sounds pretty
"interesting" simply in terms of processing 20,000,000 *correctly*. How
will they deal with very remote communities?
He also said that the way that they will prevent fraud (by stopping one
person having 2 cards) is that the biometrics will be compared with
existing cards, and if they match then it's obviously a fraudulent
attempt. Must tell my identical twin that one!
What about the aged and the infirm (variously) who will neither be able
to turn up and "register", nor be able to use the card in person, *in
person* as mandated by the scheme.
Whatever its merits/demerits in principle, one thing we can be very sure
of is that it will be an administrative total meltdown!

DSS is doing an adequate job of this at the time of application for benefits.
The Department has the resources to check the information on any application. We
don't need a card to replace what the government already has. Unfortunately
different departments don't "talk" to each other. Rather they prefer do get
information from other (non-government) sources. For instance, the ATO has since
1973 been able to log into the computers of banking institutions from their
"super-computer" located above a bank in Melbourne.
What I am alluding to is the possibility of the information contained in those
"biochips" from falling into the wrong hands. In these days when credit cards
are forged so easily by scanners and identity theft is rife I am merely trying
to be the Devil's advocate. What information will these chips contain?

Yes, and proud to do so, although like any "normal" person I minimise my
taxes.

Yes, a photo is required, as Stephen X. Carter has already confirmed. My
question is how will this be implemented? Will people have to forward a passport
style photo (without a smile) or go to a special centre similar to licencing
centres that take photos for your driver's licence?

I'm sure the fraudsters will soon find a way to abuse this system. As I
already said, it will keep the honest people honest. |

My local MPs, State and Federal are both idiots, sad to say. You may be
able to postpone it but I doubt you'll be able to stop it, entrenched
bureaucracies are very hard to stop. As this only affects the poor not
the rich, the opposition will be vocal but lacking in clout. Governments
are very good at targetting people who are in no position to fight back. |
